Talk Matters was set up by Liz Parkes, an Independent Speech and Language Therapist, to provide high quality, responsive advice and support to families and children with communication needs across Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, South Cheshire and parts of Shropshire and Derbyshire.
Liz qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1997 with a BSc. (Hons.) from the University of Manchester and has worked in a variety of roles within health and education in the UK and overseas. Having extensive experience in working with a range of children’s communication difficulties and using an eclectic approach to meeting individual needs, Liz is passionate about helping children to achieve their full potential.
Liz is also experienced in designing and delivering training to other professionals on a range of different topics and has been a guest lecturer to speech and language therapy degree students on the subject of bilingual language development. Liz has undertaken further postgraduate training and study in a range of areas, including Psychosynthesis Counselling, attachment and bonding, children’s voice disorders, feeding/swallowing, visual intervention strategies, Makaton signing, systems improvement and Social Stories.

Liz, along with the other fully qualified and experienced therapists on our team, are all registered with the Royal Collage of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), the Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice (ASLTIP) and Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
We are available to visit your family at home, or to see your child at his/her nursery to school, according to your preference and requirements. Appointments are available during the week or at weekends
